It is the time of the year where all of us start to remind ourselves of everything we ever wanted to do and couldn’t do the previous year and listing it out into a resolution list.

It may be travelling to a new place, giving yourselves a good tasty treat, getting the makeover you always wanted to, tattooing your dog’s name or bringing our health into priority and the list goes on. So many resolutions pop up in our mind but often most of them tend to be unrealistic. Because of this very reason we are not able to follow it beyond a limited period. Especially our health goals.

Also, health goals don’t only mean losing some weight and getting into shape. Your health also depends upon how happy you are and how relaxed you keep yourselves. Your health is directly proportional to self-care. Your mental goals are also your health goals. But how to come up with health goals that you can follow for the entire year?

In this article, I am going to present you with the health goals that can keep you up the entire year. So, keep your pen and papers ready. Jumping right in!

Get sufficient sleep

Sleep is the one thing that is very important for the proper functioning of your mind and body. It is the very thing many of us take for granted too. So, this is the first goal we need to hit this year, getting 7-8 hours of sleep every night.

Maintaining good hygiene before bed also helps you get a good sleep. Keep yourself away from all the gadgets that distract you from getting as much sleep right before going to bed. The benefits of getting good sleep are numerous. It helps you maintain a balance between your thoughts and your actions and helps you get through your day.

Prioritize self-care

Start putting yourself at the top of your to-do list for the day. Do everything that will keep you happy and relaxed. This helps to reduce a humongous amount of stress.

None of the stress relieving activities will be of help unless you take care of yourself. It is not only finding ways to relax yourself but also taking care of yourself emotionally, physically, mentally, socially and spiritually. You need to find out ways that will help you get balance across all these factors and yet keep you happy.

Walk within a mile

This new year, start using your natural gears too. When you have to go somewhere within a mile, prefer walking to your car or any other mode of transportation.

Walking presents you with a variety of health benefits. It helps reduce the risk of heart diseases and stroke and provides improved balance on conditions like hypertension and diabetes. It also strengthens your bones while improving your cardiovascular and pulmonary fitness. It also helps improve your mood while exposing you to fresh air and environment. While you are tempted to step on your throttle, think about all the benefits walking has to offer you and choose to fill your day with a few extra steps.

Don’t skip your breakfast

Again, talking about the fast paced world, the early hours and our disciplinary nudge to be on time may make us skip breakfast for a few days. But, it’s not something we are going to be doing this year.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. After a good night’s sleep, your blood sugar level right in the morning will be very low for your body to kick start the metabolism for the day. Breakfast replenishes it. It provides your body with the energy it needs to get through the day. Without breakfast, you may feel zapped the entire and may overeat later in the day. It also helps burn calories and helps maintain a healthy weight and body.

Now that you know the importance and benefits of breakfast, make sure you don’t miss any day of this year. Try to adjust other factors like waking up a little early, taking care of the things you need for the next day the previous day itself, so that you can use that time to enjoy a good breakfast.

Chart your diet

Know what you eat. Record everything you eat that particular day. This will help you figure out how much unhealthy food you are consuming on a particular day. It will also help you come up with a diet plan that will best fit your routine.

Knowing what you eat is very important to identify the changes you need to make to your diet. Eating a lot of healthy food will help you improve the overall quality of your health, thus improving the activities associated everyday with your lifestyle.

And above are the key achievable health goals you can’t miss in your resolution chart. The most important thing above making a resolution list is following it.

Stay positive and tell yourself that you are going to do everything to keep up to your promises and all the goals you have noted are realistic and achievable. Let this new year be all about keeping your goals in check and taking care of yourself!
